Biomass District Heating System at Castle Ashby Estate, Northampton
Clearpower are delighted to announce that construction has started on the installation of a village district heating system at the Castle Ashby Estate in Northampton, home to Lord Northampton. The development comprises around 1MW of biomass hot water heating capacity with connections to 76 houses and businesses in the village as well as to the Castle itself. Each connection is connected to a prepay meter and heat interface unit. The system will run on woodchip grown locally on the estate and is expected to be fully commissioned by February 2014.
Biomass boiler at Depperhaugh Care home
Clearpower are installing a 199kW biomass boiler at Depperhaugh Nursing Home in Suffolk for Kingsley Healthcare. The existing nursing home operates on oil boilers and the new biomass boiler will significantly reduce their annual fuel bills and provide a more sustainable solution. The boiler is being installed in December 2013.
Fuel Contract for Teagasc centre in Carlow
Clearpower were successful in a recent tender to provide fuel to the biomass heat system at Teagasc Research Centre in Carlow. Teagasc, Oak Park is the home of the national centre for arable crops research. Clearpower believe that this success will allow both parties to build on a what is already a very strong relationship. Clearpower also see this as an opportunity to build upon its already well-established biomass business in the Carlow/Kilkenny area.
Fuel Contract for Clare County Council
Clearpower are delighted to announce that they were successful in winning the contract to supply fuel to the Clare Council offices in Ennis. Clearpower have set up a standalone fuel depot local to this site. All the fuel is sourced and processed locally ensuring that Clearpower makes good on its objectives to work with local Irish Business and in addition minimise their carbon foot print.

Wood chip supply contract for The Watershed Leisure Centre, Kilkenny
In February 2013, Clearpower commenced supply of virgin wood chip fuel to The Watershed in Kilkenny. This site is expected to use approx 400 tonnes of wood chip per annum, in order to heat the entire leisure complex. Virgin wood chip is produced at the Clearpower fuel depot using local supplies of pulp wood.

DCC approached Clearpower with a strategic desire to secure a position in the expanding biomass energy market in the UK and Ireland, particularly with the launch of the Renewable Heat Incentive in the UK to promote biomass heating.

Boiler Delivered to Byker district heating energy centre (Newcastle)
Clearpower has recently commissioned a 990 kW Medium Temperature Hot Water (160 Deg C) biomass boiler at the Byker district heating energy centre in Newcastle. Clearpower’s clients are NPower who are taking over the long-term operation of the energy centre. The scope of supply includes a walking floor system, conveyors, boiler and ancillaries, flue treatment and chimney. The fuel for this system will be virgin woodchip.
Leon School (Milton Keynes) Containerised Boiler House Installed
Clearpower has recently commissioned a containerised 800 kW pellet boiler solution for EON at Leon school in Milton Keynes. In addition to the containerised solution and the pellet silo, Clearpower were responsible for district heating pipework runs to connect the new renewable energy system to various existing boilerhouses on site.
O'Hanlon Herbs Boiler Installed
Clearpower have recently commissioned a 720 kW biomass boiler solution for O’Hanlon Herbs glasshouse. The solution includes a woodchip silo and scraper conveyor loading system. The system will operate on virgin woodchip and will substantially reduce the energy bills at this expanding successful business.
Údarás na Gaeltachta district heating centre comissioned
Clearpower have completed the installation and commissioning of a district heating biomass lead energy centre at Udaras Na Gaeltachta in Galway. The energy centre comprises a 300 kW biomass boiler and a 500 kW oil boiler backup with full controls. The heat is fed into a district heating system which has 6 remote heat users around the Udaras campus. The boiler will be powered by woodchip and Clearpower have entered into a long term energy contract with Udaras whereby Clearpower guarantee the price of energy from the energy centre and manage the oil & wood fuelling operations as well as the maintenance.
New biomass boiler for Howarth timber
Clearpower are pleased to announce they have signed a contract with Howarth Timber of Hull to supply and install a 900 kW Compte-R biomass boiler. In addition to the boiler, Clearpower will be supplying and installing a woodshredder and de-nailer which will allow Howarth Timber to heat their factory using their own wood off-cuts. The boiler is due to be installed in Sep 2012.
HSE Nursing Unit Contract Won
April 2012: Clearpower have won a contract to supply and install a new biomass boiler for the new HSE nursing unit being built at Farnogue, Wexford. The biomass boiler will run on wood pellets and will provide sustainable heat energy for the building. The boiler will be delivered in May 2012.
UK's first biomass tri-generation plant Commissioned
February 2012: Clearpower has commissioned the UK’s first biomass combined cooling, heating and power plant at BSkyB’s new TV studio and office development in London. The centre comprises a 5.5MWth biomass boiler up to 2MW of heat and 2MW of cooling and also powering a 1MWe organic rankine cycle electricity generator. Clearpower was responsible for the total delivery of this project under a turnkey design/build contract. In addition, Clearpower will provide operation and maintenance services to BSkyB including over 12,000 tonnes of woodchip in the form of grade A recycled wood. This project highlights Clearpower’s capability in delivering biomass projects of this scale and complexity.
Clearpower design and install a fuel Silo solution for Waterside Park scheme London
January 2012: Clearpower designed and installed a biomass fuel silo storage solution as part of the Waterside park development scheme London. This scheme provides 780 new homes (35% affordable) over an 11.4 acre site. Clearpower’s unique steel frame silo solution offered a design which did not incur any additional load on the internal walls or ceiling of the boiler house. A 90 minute fire rating was achieved through the use of Enviroboards. Enviroboards are an environmentally friendly solution to gypsum plasterboard and provide the same structural stability as plywood. Clearpower’s solution was installed in 5 days, within 4 weeks of instruction.
Clearpower commission biomass boiler to Kiernan's farm Ballyconnell
Clearpower have delivered a biomass boiler to Kiernan’s farm Ballyconnell. The farm is a semi integrated pig farm that breeds and finishes pigs and has a substantial heat requirement. Clearpower designed and installed a 400kW Heizomat boiler system to supply the majority of the farms heat energy requirements and will generate a substantial saving on current heat costs. This is the 4th pig farm that Clearpower have installed a biomass boiler solution.
Clearpower commission biomass boiler at Nenagh Leisure Centre.
June 2011: Clearpower have completed commissioning of a 400kW KOB boiler at Nenagh Leisure Centre. Clearpower was responsible for the total delivery of this project under a turnkey design/build contract. In addition, Clearpower will be providing heat to the leisure centre from the new boiler and the existing oil boiler under an innovative 5 year heat agreement.
Clearpower has completed commissioning of two Compte boilers in the North Highland College Thurso
May 2011:Clearpower has recently completed commissioning of two Compte boilers in the North Highland College Thurso. The 300kW and 600kW boilers can utilise either pellets or woodchip and will meet all heating requirements of the extensive campus. Clearpower were responsible for the design and installation of the biomass works under sub-contract to Morrison Construction. In addition Clearpower are providing an annual operating and maintenance service.
Clearpower win Ulster Bank National Green Business Award
March 2011: Clearpower have won the National Award for Green Business at the Ulster Bank business achievers award. This follows our recent win the regional final and progression through to the final. Clearpower expands to new Irish headquarters
Clearpower has expanded its central office in Ireland. The new site is located at Unit 7, Broomhill Business Complex, Broomhill Road, Tallaght, Dublin 24.
In addition to normal operations, the new site will house Clearpower's continuous remote monitoring operations for our installations in the UK and in Ireland. It will also house our in house bioenergy design team.
Clearpower commences five year framework agreement for woodchip supply to Birmingham PFI school
January 2011: Clearpower has commenced wood chip delivery to a network of schools in Birmingham city, following the signing of a five year framework agreement with Birmingham City Council. Up to 11 schools will be supplied with virgin woodchip under the agreement. The heating requirements of all the schools are provided through on site biomass boilers.
To service this contract, Clearpower has established a new wood chip production depot in the Birmingham area.
